"Score One for Mason County...Give to United Way!"

2007 Campaign Goal: $385,000
Final Results: Just Over $386,000

OVERTIME VICTORY FOR UNITED WAY OF MASON COUNTY

United Way of Mason County scored in overtime by exceeding its $385,000.00 goal.  This year’s campaign raised just over $386,000.00.
According to Kevin and MaryLyn Leavitt, campaign co-chairs, final contributions and campaigns have wrapped up with totals signifying that United Way of Mason County has exceeded its campaign goal.  “We are very fortunate to have so many special people, businesses and organizations step up to the challenge in making this years campaign a success.   This really shows what can be achieved when the community all works together as a team toward a common goal,” the Leavitts stated.  “It has been a rewarding opportunity to work with so many wonderful people over the past few months.  The success of this campaign is positive proof of the commitment this community has to the quality of life in Mason County,” the Leavitts added.  This is the first time in five years that United Way of Mason County has exceeded the campaign goal.
Now that the money has been raised, the next step is to distribute the non-designated dollars back out to the community.  United Way of Mason County will allocate a portion of the dollars raised to its member agencies and the 2-1-1 Information and Referral and Volunteer Advocacy Program.  The remaining amount will be distributed to programs that focus on achieving specific outcomes in the areas of economic self-sufficiency of individuals and families, healthy adults and youth and helping children and youth to achieve their full potential.
According to Lynne Russell, Executive Director, volunteers from the community will review the funding proposals and recommend to the United Way of Mason County Board of Directors what programs should receive funding and at what amount. Programs awarded dollars will receive their first distribution on April 1, 2008.
